Former Australian seamer Jason Gillespie has been announced as Pakistan's new white-ball coach less than a week before the country's upcoming ODI and T20 tour of Australia.
The Kamilaroi man replaces former South African international Gary Kirsten, who resigned barely six months after taking on the role.
Both Gillespie and Kirsten were appointed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in April, with Gillespie appointed head coach of the Test side following his resignation from head coaching roles at the South Australia Rechecks and Adelaide Strikers.
Since their joint appointment Pakistan fared better in the longer format of the game, with Gillespie leading his side to a historic Test series victory over England, their first at home since 2021.
Under Kirsten Pakistan's T20 side suffered losses against India and the USA at June's ICC Men's T20 World Cup, bowing out in the competition's group stage.
"Jason Gillespie will coach the Pakistan men's cricket team on next month's white-ball tour of Australia after Gary Kirsten submitted his resignation, which was accepted," the PCB said in a brief statement.
The fill in role will see Gillespie take the reins of a Pakistan side scheduled to play three one-day internationals and three T20 internationals against Australia from November 4-18.

He'll then lead the one-day side on their six match one-day tour of Zimbabwe across November and December.
Following his appointment in April, the 49-year-old said leading the Pakistan cricket team was a "big achievement for any coach".
"I love Test cricket and being able to focus on that is something I like very much. I also love the fact that there is so much talent in Pakistan," he said at the time.
"I understand there will be expectation and that comes with the role. All I can do is to take it in my stride and I would not have taken on the job if I did not think I could deal with it."
In announcing Gillespie's Test appointment in April, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi labelled Gillespie - who represented Australia across Test and one-day internationals 168 times - a "famous and experienced" coach, which confirmed "the trust the international community has in our (Pakistan's) team".
Pakistan will face Australia in one-day international matches at the MCG (November 4), Adelaide Oval (November 8) and Perth Stadium (November 10), before T20 internationals at the Gabba (November 14), SCG (November 16) and Bellerive Oval (November 18).
