Common Ground Queensland (CGQ) is a specialist supportive housing organisation providing supportive and affordable housing to people who have experienced or are at risk of homelessness based in South Brisbane. We offer housing to individuals and families in high and medium density single site and dispersed site models.
Our supportive housing approach offers long term, safe and affordable housing that is intentionally linked to personalised support services. Support services for tenants are provided through partner organisations.
CGQ also provides tenancy support to individuals and families in partnership with partner organisations to assist tenants to sustain their tenancies and maintain stable housing outcomes.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Finance Officer is responsible for the following:
Financial Management
· Bank reconciliations
· Debit and Credit card reconciliations
· Accounts Payable end to end
· Accounts Receivable – generating sales invoices and debt collection
· Grant receipting and allocation
· Payroll processing end to end
· Tenant recharges
· Balance Sheet reconciliations
· Financial analysis and reporting as requested by the CFO and CEO
Compliance
· Calculation, lodgement and payment of BAS, PAYG and Superannuation.
· Adhere to and maintain financial systems, procedures and controls to support the efficient and effective operation of the finance function.
· Applying and working within legislative and regulatory requirements.
· Assist in the annual audit process.
· Support the CFO/CEO in the management and reporting of the compliance and risk management systems.
Other
· Respond to financial enquiries from the Operational and Management teams.
· Provide guidance and support to the Tenancy Management team regarding tenant matters and assist in resolving complex issues.
· Assist in any other ad hoc matters as directed by the CFO or CEO.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
· Experience in a finance, bookkeeping, or accounts role
· Sound understanding of financial processes, reconciliations, and reporting
· Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
· Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a small team
· A proactive and adaptable approach, with a willingness to support continuous improvement
Experience working within the not-for-profit or community services sector will be highly regarded, as will a genuine commitment to our organisation’s mission and values.
Key Selection Criteria
Essential

Bachelor degree in Accounting or Commerce.

Prior experience with Financial Systems (e.g. MYOB)

Solid accounting or bookkeeping experience.

Medium to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Excellent stakeholder management and collaboration skills.

Proactive and positive attitude.

High degree of initiative and able to work well in a team.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).

Strong analytical ability.

Confidence and skill in working with information technology systems.
Desirable

Tenancy and rental management experience utilising Console Property and Tenancy Management system or similar software program.

Understanding of or experience in partnering with homeless support services.

Tertiary qualifications in Tenancy Management - Certificate 4 in Property Management.

Policy, procedural and protocol development experience
