Barwon Water is embarking on a series of high-profile, innovative major projects that will help shape the future of our region. We’re looking for an experienced Project Director to lead a complex project from development through to delivery and operational transition.
About the role
As Project Director, you’ll provide end-to-end leadership of a major capital project, accountable for scope, cost, schedule, quality, risk and benefits.
The complexity goes well beyond project scale. You’ll operate across diverse stakeholder environments, navigating government funding, reporting and acquittal requirements, regulatory considerations, delivery partners and competing priorities while maintaining strong alignment with strategic objectives.
Working closely with project sponsors and executives, you’ll provide clear, evidence-based advice and resolve complex technical, commercial, financial and stakeholder challenges. You’ll lead multidisciplinary teams and partners, creating clear accountability and bringing the right expertise together to deliver successful outcomes.
This is an opportunity to influence what we deliver, how we deliver it and the long-term value these projects create for the region.
About you
You’re an accomplished major projects leader with experience delivering large, complex and high-value infrastructure projects. You combine strategic thinking with strong delivery discipline and are comfortable working through ambiguity, competing priorities and complex stakeholder environments.
You bring strong commercial, governance and stakeholder capability, with the credibility to influence executives, Boards, government agencies and delivery partners. You’re equally comfortable making complex decisions, providing clear advice and leading multidisciplinary teams toward a shared outcome.
A relevant tertiary degree and/or master’s qualification, together with extensive project leadership experience, is required. Professional Engineer registration in Victoria and/or recognised project management certification is also required. Experience delivering major projects with significant budgets is essential, while knowledge of water, sewerage or recycled water infrastructure would be advantageous.
